This work has included a handful of books including my edited, The Globalization of Supermax Prisons (Rutgers University Press, 2013) that was designated as 2013 Choice Outstanding Academic Title. My research in the area of corrections has focused on: explaining prison and prisoner re-entry to popular audiences and providing advice that will assist prisoners, soon to be prisoners, and their loved ones to succeed once released the co-founding of the Convict Criminology “School” of Criminology (an approach that stresses retrospective autoethnography) understanding the normalization of the Carceral/Shadow Carceral State and the identification of the major challenges facing the field of corrections, analysing solutions, and developing better policies and practices.
